Games like Kahoot, Blooket and Gimkit for the classroom

Three different searches, three different reasons to switch. Pick the tool you use now and read the list written for that switch.

Who wrote this: we make The Game Room + Arcade, one of the tools on this page. Competitor facts come from the vendors' own pages where we could reach them (checked October 16, 2026); anything we could not verify says so and links to the vendor instead.

Games like Kahoot, Blooket and Gimkit get searched for different reasons, and a single generic list serves none of them well. A teacher typing "games like Kahoot" has usually hit the 10-player free limit or wants more than a quiz. A teacher typing "games like Blooket" liked the collectibles but wants something that runs on the board. A teacher typing "games like Gimkit" wants the strategy without the free-plan mode rotation.

So this section has one page per tool. Each page ranks seven options for that specific switch, explains where each one is better than ours (we make The Game Room + Arcade, and we are on every list, labelled), and prints only competitor facts we verified on the vendor’s own page on October 16, 2026.

What actually changes when you switch

Three things move when you change game tools, and only one of them is the game.

  • Where the attention goes. Device games point 28 faces at 28 screens. Board games point them at one screen and at each other. Neither is better; they fit different days. Several tools on these lists only do one.
  • What students have to log into. Some tools need no student account for a live game and an account for anything stored. Ours needs no student email at all: teacher code, class period, first name, picture password.
  • What you pay per year. Most of these tools bill yearly and advertise monthly. The tables show the yearly total, verified on the vendor page, or say plainly when the vendor did not publish one.

For a table of every tool at once, including Quizlet, Wayground, Baamboozle, Factile and JeopardyLabs, see the comparison hub.

Questions teachers ask

What is the most similar game to Kahoot?

For the same live, projected-question, answer-on-your-phone format, Gimkit and Blooket are the closest, and Wayground (formerly Quizizz) adds homework and standards reporting. If what you liked about Kahoot! was the whole-room energy rather than the phones, a board game such as the Game Room, Baamboozle or Factile may fit better.

Is Kahoot free?

Yes, with limits. On kahoot.com/schools/plans/ (checked October 16, 2026) the free Kahoot! Go plan allows 10 players per game, 4 answer options and 3 teams, with no polls, puzzles, standard reports or AI generators. Paid teacher plans start at $3 a month billed annually ($36 a year) for 50 players. For a class larger than 10, free Kahoot! means playing in groups or paying.

Are there games like Blooket that run on the projector?

Yes. Baamboozle, Factile and JeopardyLabs are built for the board. The Game Room runs 30 projected whole-class games, and the same question bank also powers the Arcade for solo play on student devices.

Is there a free plan?

No. Each plan starts with a 7-day free trial of that plan’s games, with unlimited play, and you can cancel in one click from your account page. We would rather give you the whole plan for a week than a permanently cut-down version.
