Kahoot vs Game Room is a comparison between two different ideas of a classroom game. Kahoot! is a live quiz on student devices with a famous name and a 10-player free plan. The Game Room + Arcade is one question bank that runs 30 projected, teacher-led games and 30 solo Arcade games. We make the second one, which is why this page exists and why every competitor fact on it is dated and linked.
If you are deciding between them, the table answers the practical questions first. The sections after it cover where Kahoot! is better, where we are, and which teacher should pick which.

Where Kahoot! is better
Kahoot! wins on recognition and reach. Students already know how it works, substitute teachers can run it cold, and the same account sells polls, slides and presentation tools. Its free plan includes live play and assignments; we have no free plan, only a 7-day free trial. And on price, Kahoot!’s Bronze plan at $36 a year undercuts our cheapest plan at $49. If you need a quick quiz with no learning curve and a presentation layer, Kahoot! is the safer default.
Where The Game Room + Arcade is better
The Game Room wins on variety and on the room. Thirty whole-class games mean review day is not the same race every week, and because the games are projected and teacher-led they work with teams, with no devices and with the quiet student who never taps first. Unlimited play on every plan. The Arcade adds a solo side with tickets, a Prize Shop and per-period reports, and students join with no email or account. One bank powers all of it, including an AI builder that can generate graphs for math questions.
Cost for a year, side by side
Kahoot!: Bronze $3/mo billed annually ($36/yr) for 50 players; Silver $7/mo ($84/yr) for 100; Gold $12/mo ($144/yr) for 200. The Game Room + Arcade: Game Room $49 a year ($8.99 monthly), Arcade $69 a year ($12.99 monthly), bundle $89 a year ($15.99 monthly), each with a 7-day free trial and cancel anytime. Checked October 16, 2026. We know our annual prices are higher than several competitors’; the case for ours is the product, not the price.
Who should pick which
- Pick Kahoot! if your class is 10 or fewer and you want it free, if you need polls and slides in the same tool, or if the plain live-quiz format is exactly what you want and $36 a year is the budget.
- Pick the Game Room + Arcade if the format has worn out, if you want projected team play one day and solo device practice the next from the same bank, or if student accounts and emails are the thing you most want to avoid.
- Either way, count the year. Compare the yearly totals on each pricing page; we bill monthly or yearly and let you cancel anytime from your account page.
