Who wrote this: we make The Game Room + Arcade, one of the tools on this page. Competitor facts come from the vendors' own pages where we could reach them (checked October 16, 2026); anything we could not verify says so and links to the vendor instead.

Blooket vs Kahoot is the comparison every new teacher gets told to make, and most of the pages that answer it repeat each other’s numbers. This one has a gap to admit: Blooket’s pricing page blocked our check on October 16, 2026, so we print no Blooket prices or limits as fact, only what third-party reviews report, marked as such. Kahoot!’s figures are from its own plans page. And we make The Game Room + Arcade, which appears at the end as a third option, labelled.

With that said, the two tools are easy to tell apart once you know what each is optimizing for.

The differences that matter in a classroom

What each one is for

Kahoot! is a live quiz that rewards speed, with the best-known name in the category and a presentation layer (polls, slides) bolted on. Blooket is a set of game modes (Gold Quest, Tower Defense, Fishing Frenzy, Battle Royale, Cafe and others) in which answering questions earns in-game currency and collectible "Blooks". Kahoot! is a sprint for the whole class at once; Blooket is closer to individual arcade play with a shared question set.

Free plans

Kahoot!’s free plan allows 10 players per game, 4 answer options and 3 teams, and includes live play, assignments and solo games. Blooket’s free plan, per third-party reviews we could not verify on the vendor page, includes hosting, set creation and homework mode for a full class, with basic reports and no audio questions. If those reports are right, Blooket’s free tier is the more generous one for a class of 28.

Paid plans

Kahoot! Bronze is $3 a month billed annually ($36 a year) for 50 players, Silver $7 a month ($84 a year) for 100, Gold $12 a month ($144 a year) for 200. Blooket’s paid price could not be verified at source on the check date; reviews disagree with each other, so we do not print one. See blooket.com/pricing.

Student accounts

Neither vendor states its student-account rules on the pages we could reach. Reviews say both allow joining by code; Blooket is reported to need an account for stats and Blooks. Treat both as unconfirmed.

The third option

The Game Room + Arcade is built around a different split: 30 projected, teacher-led whole-class games on the board, and 30 solo Arcade games on student devices, both on one question bank. The Arcade keeps the thing Blooket does well (correct answers earn something, here tickets for a Prize Shop) and adds per-period reports without student emails or accounts. It has no free plan, only a 7-day free trial per plan, and costs $49 to $89 a year. We make it; the honest trade is price for the board and the reports.

Who should pick which

  • Pick Kahoot! for quick, familiar, whole-class-at-once quizzing, or if you need polls and slides.
  • Pick Blooket for individual device play with collectibles and, by reports, a bigger free tier.
  • Look at the Game Room + Arcade if you want projected team play without devices as well as a solo arcade, and reports by class period with no student accounts.

From the classroom

A classroom note from the teacher behind the Game Room belongs here. It is left out until she has written it.

Questions teachers ask

Is Kahoot free?

Yes, with limits. On kahoot.com/schools/plans/ (checked October 16, 2026) the free Kahoot! Go plan allows 10 players per game, 4 answer options and 3 teams, with no polls, puzzles, standard reports or AI generators. Paid teacher plans start at $3 a month billed annually ($36 a year) for 50 players. For a class larger than 10, free Kahoot! means playing in groups or paying.

Is Blooket free?

Blooket has a free plan, but blooket.com/pricing blocked our check on October 16, 2026, so we do not print its limits or paid prices as fact. Third-party reviews describe free hosting, set creation and homework mode. Confirm on the page.

Which is better for younger students, Blooket or Kahoot?

Teachers writing online generally credit Blooket’s collectibles with motivating younger students, while Kahoot! is simpler to run and more familiar. We make neither; for a projected team game with no devices at all, see the Game Room.

How much does The Game Room + Arcade cost?

The Game Room is $8.99 a month or $49 a year (30 whole-class games). The Arcade is $12.99 a month or $69 a year (30 solo games). The bundle with both is $15.99 a month or $89 a year (all 60). Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial of that plan; cancel before day 7 and you pay nothing.
